On October 23rd 2001, the Council of Ministers of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg decided to set up a special internet site designed to provide the population and the media with the information necessary in the event of a ma-jor crisis or disaster in Baden-Wuerttemberg. This project is part of an anti-terror programme co-ordinated across all administrative departments of the state.
This internet forum enables the state’s ministries to provide the population and the media with objective, accurate, reliable and up-to-date information on effi-cient and high-performance servers in the event of an emergency. Starting from the analysis of the extent of the potential danger the departments put together and continuously update information for all possible scenarios on so-called “dark sites”. In the event of an emergency these sites will be made available to the public by the department in charge and supplemented with recent news within a few minutes depending on the needs of the situation.
According to demand relevant information such as updates, press releases, warnings, reports of searches and missing persons, recommendations for be-haviour, background information and contact persons for affected people and their relatives will be made available on the site. The most important informa-tion will be translated into the foreign languages relevant in each specific case.
The internet pages are located on efficient, high-performance, and extremely failsafe servers. The pages do not contain graphics or multimedia elements, so that they can be loaded within the shortest possible time even in times of high usage rates. All pages are barrier-free.
